About Jenny Pettis

How would you describe your background?
I recently retired after a career in sales, and raising a family, and always wanted to pursue art. I began taking online classes and watching some YouTube instructors, but no formal art instruction.

When did you know you wanted to be an artist?
I’ve appreciated fine art since childhood, but didn’t pick up a paint brush until a few years ago.

What would surprise people to learn about you?
I’m a five-time Ironman.

How would you describe your art to someone who has never seen it?
Representational with a nod to impressionism.

What achievements in the area of art are you proudest of?
That my art has been purchased by clients and collectors from coast-to-coast.

How would you describe your art process?
Sustained live observation, reference photos, and studio time.

What is your usual studio/working day like?
Zoom art class, paint, watch YouTube, let my chickens out, do some chores, and make dinner.

What is the most delightful part of your life outside of work?
My faith, my family and the 18th century house we saved.
